In 2014, Black Bear Customs (www.blackbearcustoms.com), a one stop print shop, opened in north-central West Virginia. The owner, Michael Shaffer, has led his shop to be one of the most diverse print facilities in the northeast and one of the largest in West Virginia. At 12,000 sq ft, Black Bear Customs is a full-service facility offering embroidery, screenprint, and digital printing, employing a dozen people and shipping worldwide.
In early 2020, as the COVID pandemic became a force to be reckoned with, the normally hustling bustling print shop found some downtime. Some of the shop employees and Michael were out on a beautiful morning riding side-by-sides with their families when one of the machines broke down. As Michael, his father Daris, "football dad" became friends Jaron, and several others used caveman tools to repair the limping machine, someone commented, “You guys really should open a shop!” That planted the seed.
For two months, Michael mentioned someday opening a shop, as he could not shake the thought. And then, the clouds parted and the angels sang, and in June 2020, Jaron and Michael founded Black Bear Off Road, with Jaron leaving the coal mines behind to captain the ship at the newly formed Black Bear Off Road. Initially, Jaron and Michael intended to do minor mechanical and fabrication work. That, too, has morphed into a one stop shop – adding full CNC and fabrication capabilities, a DynoJet Dyno, a full size paint booth, a 3D printing lab, as well as an engineer, a veteran, and a great bunch of mechanics to service the entire off-road industry. Black Bear Off Road is now a nationally recognized brand that prides itself on mom and pop shop style service with serious muscle on the back end.

BLACK BEAR OFF ROAD IS YOUR ONE STOP OFF ROAD SHOP!
